Bernard Defaix Petit Chablis delivers lively white Burgundy with bright citrus, crunchy freshness and irresistible Chablis charm.
Domaine Bernard Defaix is one of Chablis' most respected family estates, with generations of the Defaix family working the vineyards around Milly and Chablis. Today Didier and Sylvain Defaix continue the family tradition, combining organic viticulture with thoughtful, restrained winemaking. Their Petit Chablis is a wonderfully bright introduction to the domaine, made for freshness, purity and sheer drinking pleasure.
Petit Chablis typically comes from the higher slopes and plateaux surrounding Chablis, where Portlandian limestone soils and the region's cool northern climate give the wines their lively, citrus-driven personality. The 2025 vintage brings youthful energy and generous fruit, while careful handling in the cellar keeps everything crisp, clean and wonderfully refreshing.
Pale straw with green highlights, the bouquet bursts with lemon, green apple and white peach alongside citrus blossom and a hint of wet stone. The palate is lively and mouthwatering, combining crunchy orchard fruit with lemon zest, bright acidity and a subtle mineral edge. Light, energetic and beautifully dry, it finishes with citrus peel, green apple and a refreshing saline note.
Exactly the sort of bottle to have permanently chilled: perfect with oysters, fish and chips, grilled prawns, sushi, goat's cheese or a lazy plate of seafood by the water. Best enjoyed young while all that bright citrus and crunchy freshness are at their most irresistible.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2030.
