Bleasdale was founded by Frank Potts in 1850 and remains in the hands of the founding family today — one of Australia's most enduring winemaking stories. While the estate's heartland is Langhorne Creek, their Adelaide Hills Chardonnay draws on cool climate fruit from select growers in Woodside, Echunga and Kuitpo, giving the winery's white wine range the freshness and tension that the Hills delivers so consistently.
Handpicked fruit is whole bunch pressed and fermented with ambient yeasts on full juice solids in French oak puncheons, with spontaneous malolactic fermentation and regular lees stirring to build texture and mid-palate weight. Around a quarter of the oak is new, lending gentle structure without dominating the fruit.
The result is a Chardonnay of real balance and approachability — ripe peach, pear and stone fruit on the nose, with ginger, lemon blossom and a subtle cedary oak thread. The palate is textural and fluid, with good weight and a clean, refreshing finish.
An Adelaide Hills Chardonnay that consistently punches well above its price point. Serve chilled alongside roast chicken, grilled fish or a pasta with cream sauce.
