Heirloom Vineyards Pinot Gris from the Adelaide Hills is a beautifully textured, fruit-driven white that offers a richer and more expressive take on this versatile variety. Unlike its leaner Grigio counterpart, this Pinot Gris leans into stone fruit, spice and gentle weight, all framed by the natural acidity and freshness that comes from the cool-climate slopes of the Adelaide Hills.
Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, then fermented mostly in stainless steel with a portion matured on lees to build texture and complexity. There is no oak influence, allowing the purity of fruit and gentle spice to shine through.
The nose is inviting, with aromas of ripe pear, baked apple, honeysuckle and cinnamon spice. The palate is soft and rounded, showing white peach, poached pear and almond meal, balanced by fresh acidity and a lightly creamy mouthfeel. It finishes dry and persistent, with a savoury twist that adds food-friendly versatility.
Food pairing: excellent with pork and apple dishes, creamy mushroom pasta, roast chicken with thyme or even mildly spiced Thai curries. Also pairs well with soft cheeses or grilled stone fruit salads.
Cellar potential: best enjoyed over the next 3 to 5 years, during which it will develop more honeyed and nutty notes.
