Complex and savoury eight-clone Pinot from Jim Chatto's Isle vineyard in Tasmania’s Huon River Valley
A cracking pinot noir drawn from fruit across the Chatto property in the Huon Valley. There's a touch of Doris plum in this year's model, sliding in comfortably next to the ripe black cherry tones. Hints of exotic spice, dried shiitake, crushed stone, cedar, a fine mist of wild herbs and wakame, charcuterie and subtle leaf litter suggestions. Savoury and long on the palate, with a fine, chalky tannin grip and a bright cherry-skin acidity as those flavours draw away slowly. There's a subtle sense of horsepower to this wine, but its arc is graceful and true. Great drinking. Drink to 2038.

Quite charming with black cherry, pomegranate, beetroot, baking spices and herbal, wet earthy undertones. The palate is supple yet tense with a generous mid-palate tightened up with fine-grained tannins and a deep, long finish, whilst remaining light-footed and playful, albeit complex and mineral-driven. A fine pinot with plenty of time to develop. Drink or hold.

Jim Chatto's obsession with Pinot Noir has taken him around the world but it was Tasmania that had the strongest pull. After years of searching, he found his place at Glaziers Bay in the Huon Valley, right on the edge of viticultural possibility. The Isle vineyard planted in 2007 remains the heart of Chatto Wines. A small and carefully chosen family of Tasmanian wines has grown around it, each one a conversation with the variety and the site, driven by an insatiable curiosity for Pinot Noir.
The Intrigue is a blend of all eight clones of Pinot planted in the Isle vineyard.
