Jim Chatto's obsession with Pinot Noir has taken him around the world but it was Tasmania that had the strongest pull. After years of searching, he found his place at Glaziers Bay in the Huon Valley, right on the edge of viticultural possibility. The Isle vineyard planted in 2007 remains the heart of Chatto Wines. A small and carefully chosen family of Tasmanian wines has grown around it, each one a conversation with the variety and the site, driven by an insatiable curiosity for Pinot Noir.
Lutruwita is the palawa kani name for Tasmania. It is an ambitious wine, with fruit drawn from five regions and seven clones across the island blended into something that is distinctly Tasmanian.
A warm, dry finish to the 2025 growing season gave wines of remarkable intensity and focus, with a freshness that the cool nights preserved throughout. Bright red and black fruits, floral lift and a fine mineral line — the Chatto hallmarks of space, detail and purity run through a wine that drinks beautifully now and will continue to develop with a few years in the bottle.
The wine's bright fruit and fine mineral lift make it a natural at the table. At home with a Vietnamese duck salad, a wild mushroom and thyme pasta, or a Korean-style braised short rib on a relaxed Friday evening.
Drinking well now through 2032.
