Cullen Grace Madeline SBS is one of Australia’s great white wines and a defining expression of Margaret River. It is made from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grown on the Cullen family’s Wilyabrup vineyard, where gravelly loam over clay and the steady influence of the Indian Ocean create ideal conditions for whites of depth, freshness and remarkable longevity. This is a place that gives the wine its natural tension and savoury, mineral edge.
The Cullen family are true pioneers of Margaret River. Founded by Kevin and Diana Madeline Cullen, the estate is now led by Vanya Cullen, whose commitment to biodynamic farming has transformed the vineyard into one of the most alive and expressive in the country. Grace Madeline is named in honour of Diana Madeline Cullen and represents the purest and most powerful expression of the estate’s SBS blend.
The wine is made with wild fermentation, extended lees contact and careful maturation, building texture and complexity without masking the vineyard. In the glass it shows lemon zest, grapefruit and white peach, with layers of wild herbs, beeswax, lanolin and a distinctive saline, chalky note. The palate is powerful yet beautifully balanced, driven by bright acidity and finishing long, dry and savoury.
This is a brilliant food wine. Grilled fish, lobster, prawns, roast chicken, rich seafood dishes or anything with herbs and citrus all work beautifully with its structure and freshness.
