Sweet Tasmanian dessert wine with floral aromas of honey and candied citrus
Please note: this is a 375mL bottle
A nicely focused and unctuous sweet riesling. Flavours of candied citrus and tropical fruits, fresh and pressed wildflowers, grilled peaches with their syrup, soft spice, drizzled honey, rose petals, poached apricots and just a suggestion of Turkish delight in the distance. Drink to 2034.
92 points Dave Brookes for Halliday Wine Companion, March 2026
Paying homage to the rare ice wines of Germany and Canada, Frogmore Creek's Iced Riesling takes a more technical approach to showing what their Riesling looks like when fully mature.
The grapes are pressed and settled in stainless steel, racked clear and stored at zero degrees. The juice is then frozen to separate the must from water and concentrated to 17.5 Baumé ahead of fermentation, which, vintage pending, is stopped when the residual sugars sit at around 200 to 220 g/L.
About this producer
The Frogmore Creek vineyard in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley was established in the mid-1990s by the Scherer family. It has been part of the Hill-Smith family’s portfolio of vineyards and brands since December 2012 and has since expanded to include two other nearby sites. Chief winemaker Alain Rousseau has led the work at the winery for more than 20 years.
