Giant Steps Rosé from the Yarra Valley is a beautifully fresh, textural and quietly detailed rosé that reflects the precision and cool climate elegance that have made Giant Steps one of Australia’s most respected producers. The fruit is drawn from select Upper Yarra and Valley Floor vineyards planted on volcanic red soils, mudstone and gravel loams, sites that deliver both fragrance and lively natural acidity. Pinot Noir forms the backbone of the wine, often supported by a touch of other aromatic varieties depending on the season. Hand picking, whole bunch pressing and a gentle, low extraction approach ensure delicacy and purity, while cool fermentation in stainless steel preserves lift. A short period on fine lees adds subtle texture and savoury nuance without taking away from its refreshing drive.

The aromatics are bright and expressive. Fresh strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant lead, supported by watermelon rind, pink grapefruit, white peach and a gentle floral note of rose and orange blossom. Beneath the fruit lies a cool mineral thread, a nod to the Yarra’s ancient soils and cool evenings. As it opens, hints of pomegranate, citrus peel and soft spice add further refinement.

The palate is crisp, silky and beautifully balanced. Red berries and citrus glide across a lightly creamy, lees enriched texture, driven by vibrant acidity that keeps the wine refreshing and energetic. Flavours of strawberry, cranberry, grapefruit zest and peach skin unfold in clean, elegant layers. A faint savoury note, reminiscent of dried herbs and wet stone, adds depth. The finish is long, dry and quietly poised, making it irresistible on warm days but equally enjoyable with food.
