Very bright and youthful looking purple colour of medium depth; the aromas are ultra-fresh and young, with some banana esters still lingering, together with red cherry, raspberry and a hint of violet. Intense and concentrated but also light on its feet, this is a really elegant pinot noir with tremendous penetrating flavour and prodigious palate length. This is still just a baby but should turn out to be a top wine with a bit more time. Drink 2027 to 2040.

97 points Huon Hooke for The Real Review, February 2026

The 2025 Pinot Noir speaks of strawberry and boiled lolly, red licorice, red apple and sweet paprika. In the mouth, the tannins are sinewy and the palate cloaked in poached fruit, particularly strawberry. The finish is soft and little granular, with some gentle astringency from the interplay between tannin and acid. Drink 2026 to 2035.

90 points Erin Larkin for The Wine Advocate, April 2026

Grosset was established by Jeffrey Grosset in Auburn in 1981 with a single guiding conviction: that exceptional wine begins with finding precisely the right place. Grosset remains one of Australia’s most focused and uncompromising small producers with four Clare Valley vineyards certified organic and biodynamic. These are farmed with a philosophy that has deepened considerably since Jeffrey first engaged with biodynamics as a way of understanding his land rather than simply managing it.

Grosset Pinot Noir is made from fruit grown in the Piccadilly Valley of Adelaide Hills. The composition draws on several clones and includes 50% whole bunches in the ferment. Maturation takes place in French oak barriques, half of which are new each year.

The 2025 was a warm and generous vintage across South Australia and makes itself felt in this wine. Still a young wine, it shows lifted ripe red cherry and raspberry aromas and a palate that has good length.

Best given time before opening. Char siu pork neck  or taro root braised with shiitake and ginkgo nuts would sit well with the wine.
