Floral fragrant Victorian Nebbiolo with bright flavours and firm, fine tannins
Maybe the best release so far, with dried flowers, blueberry, violets, wet stone and fresh cherry. The palate is rounded and finely structured with bright acidity, fine tannins and a fresh, focused finish. A very good Australian nebbiolo that should tickle the fancy of Italian nebbiolo lovers. Drink or hold.
96 points Ryan Montgomery for James Suckling, September 2026
Jasper Hill is a Heathcote winery established by Ron and Elva Laughton in 1975. It remains a family operation, with the baton now passed onto daughter Emily and her husband Nick.
From the beginning, the philosophy has been fiercely minimalist: dry organic farming with traditional winemaking in open-top fermenters. Their two vineyard sites are located just one kilometre apart, with Emily's Paddock facing east and Georgia's Paddock mostly west. Both sites are on Heathcote's famous Cambrian-era broken down basalt soils at an elevation of roughly 300 metres.
The Georgia's Paddock Nebbiolo is a bright, fresh red wine opening with rose-like florals and notes of dark cherries and ripe red currants. The palate is framed by bold, firm tannins that wrap around the delicious, spicy and smoky fruit flavours.
