2025 Jim Barry The Farm Riesling, Clare Valley

Jim Barry was the first qualified winemaker in the Clare Valley, and the business he founded in 1959 has remained in family hands for three generations. The Farm is a relatively new addition to the Jim Barry range: a small-batch project in which winemakers Tom Barry and Ben Marx identify distinctive parcels of fruit from the family's estate vineyards each year, producing vintage-specific wines that reflect the character of the site and the season. The 2025 marks the first time The Farm label has been applied to a Riesling, bringing a fresh angle to a range previously focused on red varieties.

Estate grown in the Clare Valley and fermented to a naturally low 10.5% alcohol, this is a Riesling built on precision and clarity rather than weight. The nose is lifted and fragrant — wet limestone minerality, a subtle saline freshness and dried lavender, all wrapped in bright citrus zest. The palate delivers an immediate burst of pure citrus intensity, with fresh lime and juicy satsuma layered with finesse and chalky texture. Vibrant natural acidity drives the wine from start to finish, with a long, clean and refreshing close that reveals more complexity than the wine's lightness might initially suggest.
