Ktima Gerovassiliou has become one of Greece’s benchmark wineries, playing a major role in reviving indigenous varieties and putting modern Greek wine firmly on the international stage. Founded by Vangelis Gerovassiliou in Macedonia near Thessaloniki, the estate combines meticulous vineyard work with a deep respect for local grapes and terroir. Malagousia, once close to extinction, has become the winery’s signature variety, prized for its exotic aromatics, texture and vibrant freshness.
The 2025 vintage is beautifully expressive from the first pour. Aromas of white peach, ripe citrus and jasmine leap from the glass alongside hints of fresh herbs and orange blossom. There is a lovely richness through the palate balanced by crisp acidity and a fine mineral edge that keeps everything bright and energetic. Layers of stone fruit, citrus peel and subtle floral notes glide effortlessly across the tongue before finishing long and refreshing with a faint saline lift.
This is a brilliant Mediterranean white that absolutely comes alive with food. Grilled prawns, fresh calamari or zucchini fritters with herbs and yoghurt would all be sensational pairings. It also shines beside Thai dishes, roast chicken with lemon and oregano or simple seafood pasta enjoyed outdoors on a warm evening. There is an effortless charm to Malagousia when it is this fresh and balanced, making it incredibly easy to enjoy from the first glass to the last.
