Maressa Pinot Noir Mornington Peninsula is a finely detailed cool climate Pinot Noir that reflects the maritime precision of this celebrated Victorian region. Mornington Peninsula has earned its reputation for elegant, structured Pinot Noir thanks to its rolling hills, diverse exposures and constant ocean influence from both Port Phillip Bay and Bass Strait. The extended growing season allows slow ripening, building aromatic complexity while preserving natural acidity. Maressa focuses on small parcel fruit and gentle handling in the winery to retain clarity, texture and site expression in a contemporary Peninsula style.
Bright ruby with translucent crimson edges, the nose is lifted and expressive. Red cherry, wild strawberry and cranberry lead, followed by rose petal, subtle spice and a whisper of forest floor. A faint savoury edge of dried herbs and fine oak adds depth without masking the vibrant fruit.
Medium bodied and beautifully poised, the palate glides with silky tannins and bright acidity. Red berries and cherry sit at the core, framed by hints of clove, subtle earth and finely integrated oak. There is an elegant line through the mid palate, finishing long and savoury with lingering spice and gentle mineral tension. It is balanced, refined and unmistakably Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir.
Pair with roast duck and cherry glaze, herb crusted lamb rack, grilled salmon or wild mushroom tart. Delicious in its youth for its brightness and perfume, it will also reward cellaring for six to ten years, developing truffle, undergrowth and savoury complexity with time.
