Velvety and meaty regional Heathcote blend by Jasper Hill displaying red fruit and spice
Bright and vibrant with raspberry, red plum and dark cherry, spice, cola and smoked meat. The palate is juicy and savory with fine tannins, fresh acidity and a good core of red fruit. Picked early from two Heathcote vineyards, giving freshness and immediate drinking appeal. Drink or hold.
94 points Ryan Montgomery for James Suckling, September 2026
Occam's Razor wines are made by Jasper Hill, a Heathcote winery established by Ron and Elva Laughton in 1975. It remains a family operation, with the baton now passed onto daughter Emily and her husband Nick. This is Emily’s own label, named after 14th century theologian and philosopher William of Ockham’s less is more approach.
This Shiraz is a regional blend made from grapes purchased from a contract vineyard in Colbinabbin blended together with a smaller parcel near Lake Eppalock. Both sites were harvested early to capture a great fresh feel, with savoury, meaty elements complementing a core of velvety red fruit and spice.
