From '65, '95 and '17 estate vines, mostly on sandy soils over limestone; minimal whole bunch, and maturation half in steel and half in older oak. This is bright-fruited in the modern mode, yet never strays into confection, the red-fruited core accented in a savoury way, though never dulled or lacking in vigour. Red berries, macerated strawberries, cranberries, white pepper, raspberry leaf tea and rosehip. Medium weight with a pleasing weave of natural tannin and acidity lively of feel. This is another fine, and keen value, release.

Grenache has found a wonderful home in McLaren Vale, and few families know the region's vineyards better than the Olivers. Six generations have farmed their Taranga property, with winemaker Corrina Wright championing the Mediterranean varieties that thrive in its warm climate. The Small Batch range celebrates distinctive parcels and varieties, with Grenache particularly suited to the estate's sandy soils and sunshine.
Bright ruby red with vibrant crimson highlights. Juicy raspberry, wild strawberry and red cherry mingle with rose petals, cinnamon and a hint of dried thyme. The palate is fragrant and supple, with lively red fruit, fine tannins and refreshing acidity. A gentle earthy spice adds interest to the deliciously savoury finish.
Terrific with crispy pork belly and fennel, grilled octopus with smoked paprika, or roasted eggplant with harissa and pomegranate. A slight chill makes it especially appealing on warmer evenings.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2032. Beautifully approachable, with the structure to develop further savoury complexity.
