2025 Pizzini Brachetto, King Valley

The Pizzini Brachetto is a joyful, lightly sparkling red that captures the essence of the Pizzini family’s Italian heritage. Brachetto is a traditional variety of Piemonte used for producing sweet, aromatic frizzante wines and thrives on the cool slopes of the King Valley.

In the hands of the Pizzini family shows off its playful side in the best possible way. Opening with lively, bright aromas of musky strawberries and Turkish Delight that spill into the sweet palate that is balanced and finishes with refreshing, lingering fruit notes.

Brachetto wines are not intended for cellaring. Appreciate their frothy, youthful exuberance on release as a sweet afternoon treat on a hot day, or with berry tarts and pavlova dressed in fresh fruit.

This would also make for a great cocktail: just add fresh ginger, mint and lime and maybe a handful of strawberries or raspberries frozen inside ice cubes for a really festive display - even better if you use another bottle instead of water for the ice cubes!

The grapes were gently pressed to get the juice off the skins to reduce the phenolic and enhance the beautiful aromatic varietal characters. The must was then allowed to ferment until it reached 6.5% alcohol, fined, filtered and bottled under pressure to retain strong aromatics and sweetness and a nice level of zingy fizz to tickle the tongue.

The wine was fined with gelatine and has 86g/L residual sugar.

The Pizzini family arrived in the King Valley from Trentino in northern Italy. Setting up as tobacco farmers, they began growing Italian grape varieties in the 1980s when few in Australia were doing so. They remain a respected Australian voice in Italian varieties and wine styles, maintaining a consistently high quality across a diverse portfolio that features everyday options as well as cellar-worthy benchmark wines.
