2025 Port Phillip Quartier Pinot Noir, Mornington Peninsula

It’s at a pricepoint that just makes it accessible, and the wine equally approachable. All good points. Requisite cherries and spice, autumnal aromas of damp leaves and earth. There’s a softness to the tannins and fineness to the acidity. It’s ready now and best in the short term. Drink to 2030.

Light, cherry red in the glass, bright and lively. Lifted and pretty aromas of red fruits, earth, underbrush and spice. Firm, fresh and mouth-filling, red fruited, light and lively in flavour. There's some decent grip and shape and the acidity is perky. Drink to 2033.

From the excellent 2025 vintage, this opens with a lifted nose of red fruit and charming brightness. The palate is plush and vibrant, the tannins soft and subtle, and a bright acidity leaves a refreshing aftertaste.

There is no need to cellar this one, as it is approachable from the moment it's opened. Enjoy on its own, or with a mushroom and herb risotto or a simple charcuterie board.

Quartier means neighbourhood in French and the Quartier varietals are a celebration of diverse terroirs on the Mornington Peninsula.

The fruit for this wine was handpicked from vineyards in Red Hill, Main Ridge, Balnarring and Dromana following the near-perfect 2025 growing season and destemmed into both open stainless steel and concrete vats, with a 12% whole bunch inclusion. Fermentation started spontaneously with ambient yeasts and lasted between 16 to 18 days. Pump overs occurred daily at the start of fermentation, followed by gentle plunging towards the end. The wine was then pressed off and underwent indigenous malolactic fermentation, followed by ten months in a combination of French oak barriques, puncheons (of which 6% were new), and large format foudre. The blended wine was bottled un-fined with a light filtration.

Port Phillip Estate draws fruit from two sites, with all wines made and bottled in-house at Kooyong by a team led by winemaker Tim Perrin. Winemaking practices detail-orientated but emphasise low-intervention through native ambient yeasts and gravity-led flow of wine.
