Rounded and textural Gris with aromas of pear pastries, vanilla and cinnamon
The Origin wines from Saint Clair are regional blends of a given variety that drink well on release and offer good value-for-money.
The 2025 Pinot Gris opens with inviting, warm pear pastry aromas with notes of vanilla and cinnamon that are mirrored on the rounded, textural and lingering palate.
Medium- to full-bodied, the modest (less than 4g/L) residual sugar contributes positively to the overall and would make this a beautiful match with Moroccan tagines such as those featuring chicken, apricots and almonds.
More about this wine
The fruit for the 2025 Pinot Gris was sourced from a selection of vineyards in Marlborough’s Southern and Omaka Valleys, with vineyards harvested as the fruit matured. At the winery, the free-run juice from each was cold settled ahead of a cool fermentation in stainless steel, and the wine kept on light lees with regular stirring for enhanced texture and complexity. The parcels were then assessed for quality and style ahead of blending and stabilisation in preparation for bottling.
