A lightish to medium-bodied Pinot Noir from the Adelaide Hills. Lovely aromas of strawberry and spice with a little darker cherry character provide a complex and intriguing initial engagement. The palate, showing that plush fruit, also has a solid core of tannin and lightly laid oak, providing the structure and the direction. Nice, dry, savory finish completes an excellent wine. Drink to 2035.

Delicious. That’s probably all you need to know about this little lovely. You want more? Well, it’s ripe, it’s rounded and comes with a lovely expression of cooler climate Pinot Noir, albeit from a warmer vintage. Consider that a good sign. Immediately cherry and plummy, fresh and alive in the glass with black cherry, red plum, raspberries fruits firing alongside spice, a pinch of herbs, Aussie bush notes and cocoa. Fine supple tannins bring an easy drinking aspect, while a nice touch of tannin grip to close adds that extra feeling of quality. Good value and the drinking options are there. Solo or with food – it’s a winner. Drink to 2031.

Fuller red tinged with purple; plum and earthy spice aromas, the palate full and sinewy, with some firmness thanks to mouth-coating tannins. A less pinoty wine with serious structure - is there some shiraz in this, I wonder? Smart stuff. Drink to 2033.

This wine was made from fruit grown in vineyards in Gumeracha, Lenswood and Hahndorf.

The 2025 season was dry and very warm across South Australia, with Adalaide Hills growers thanking their higher elevation and cool nights for preserving good natural acidity across most varieties. Fruit included both machine and hand harvested grapes, with some whole bunch included in the ferments. The basket pressed wine was matured for eight months in seasoned French oak and its vegan friendly.

About this producer

The Lane Vineyard is a family-owned Adelaide Hills property established in 1993. With an elevation of 370 to 450 metres, its Balhannah vineyards are divided across numerous parcels, each offering differing aspects of the rolling hills of ancient gravelly soils, while fruit is also sourced from other growers in the broader region.

The business is certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, which looks at all aspects of wine production from vineyards to winery, and encapsulates protection of local bushland and wildlife.
