Taut, bright and flinty Chardonnay with fleshy white stone fruit and creamy citrus
O’Leary Walker was established in 2000 by experienced winemakers David O’Leary and Nick Walker. Today, they combine their experience with new blood in the cellar, brought in by Vivian Tu and Nick’s son Jack Walker. Fruit is sourced from David and Nick’s respective family vineyards, as well as long term contract growers.
Their Chardonnay is a single vineyard wine made from fruit harvested from a mature 45-year-old vines standing at an elevation of 760 metres in Lenswood. Fermented in seasoned French oak barrels with both indigenous and cultivated yeasts, the wine rested for six months post-ferment begore it was prepared for bottling.
A classical expression of Adelaide Hills, the wine greets with aromas of creamed citrus and white stonefruit that spill into the taut, tightly framed palate that rewards with layered, rich and fleshy fruit, fine texture and flinty brightness.
This would sit well with pan-seared pork schnitzels served with capers and lemon or a chicken roasted with fresh herbs.
