Layers of butterscotch dried apricot caramel and roasted nuts in an iconic Australian fortified.
Campbells has been one of Rutherglen's most respected family wineries for more than 150 years, preserving and refining the traditions that have made the region's fortified wines famous around the world. Crafted from Muscadelle and matured through the family's traditional solera system, Grand Rutherglen Topaque is a beautifully complex fortified wine that showcases the remarkable depth and elegance this uniquely Australian style can achieve.
Rutherglen's warm climate encourages exceptional ripeness, while decades of careful maturation in seasoned oak barrels slowly concentrate the wine's flavours and aromas. As the wine ages, evaporation and gentle oxidation create extraordinary richness and complexity, balanced by freshness that keeps every sip poised and harmonious.
The colour is a deep amber with rich tawny hues. Aromas of butterscotch, toffee and dried apricot are layered with roasted hazelnut, honeycomb, orange peel and hints of coffee and spice. The palate is luxuriously smooth and velvety, revealing flavours of caramel, crème brûlée, malt, toasted nuts and dried fruits wrapped around remarkable balance and persistence. The finish is long, warming and intensely satisfying, lingering with notes of mocha, toffee and roasted almond.
A superb match for crème brûlée, sticky toffee pudding, roasted walnuts, mature blue cheese or simply enjoyed on its own after dinner. Once opened it will retain its character for many months, making it a wonderful wine to savour over time.
