Nestled underneath the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, La Perrière enjoys a superb location and sits on some of the oldest bedrock in the village. As the name suggests, it is a very stony vineyard—pierre means stone and the site was once a quarry. Planted in 1978, Leroux’s 0.10 hectares of vines are certified organic and these vines yielded just two barrels in 2017, one of which was new.
One of the paler wines in Ben Leroux's exciting range of 2017s, this comparatively delicate red comes from a well-placed premier cru close to Mazis-Chambertin and sees no new oak or whole bunches. Focussed and restrained, it's a gentle, floral, enticing Pinot with a hint of subtle reduction and vibrant acidity.
