The Arizu family are pioneers in Mendoza and the sub region of Lujan de Cuyo. They have produced wines under the Luigi Bosca label for more than a century. In the late 80’s with iconic heritage vineyards, the oldest in the region, they saw the opportunity to create an ultra-premium boutique label with limited production from only the best fruit from their two iconic Mendoza vineyards.
The San Alberto and Viña Alicia vineyards are both located in Luján de Cuyo. The location, soil type and climate place these lands “among the most coveted in the world”. A true continental climate; dry, with an immense day/night (diurnal) temperature difference and the scarce rainfalls (180 mm, annual average) add up to the ideal conditions for vine growing.
(aged in 50% new oak): Bright, dark red-ruby. Classic Malbec aromas of blackberry and violet show lovely lift and perfume, with energy deriving from the rocky riverbed soil. The dark berry, licorice and bitter chocolate flavors convey terrific definition and lift, not to mention a light touch. This utterly seamless yet energetic wine projects an impression of weightlessness. Finishes with suave tannins and terrific lift. Superb.
