Our Block wines are made from small, carefully selected parcels of the best old vine fruit from the Forest Hill Property including the original 1965 vines. Cane pruned and hand harvested, these special blocks are very low yielding due to age and relying only on natural rainfall. If the vintage proves to be challenging for a variety, we will not make a Block wine that season. The Block wines are powerful yet refined and elegant, and will reward cellaring.
Forest Hill is a 5* Halliday winery
From vines planted in '65, the oldest cool climate vineyard in WA; hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, the best portion of free-run juice cool-fermented with Champagne yeast. A wine of great class, fully reflecting its distinguished place in WA winemaking history and the growing season of '17. Its titratable acidity of 9.13g/l is subsumed by the intensity of the citrus zest, grapefruit and Granny Smith apple. It lingers in the mouth long after it's been swallowed.
