The Clos Derrière Vieille (behind the old village hospices) is naturally fenced by woods. Very slow ripening of the grapes: shadowed on the morning, bathed by the sun until sunset.
A blend of Grenache 80% , Mourvèdre 10% & Syrah 10%
Aged In casks (foudres) and terracotta jars for 18 months.
‘Less garrigue-laden than some of the other Gigondas bottlings at this domaine, the full-bodied 2016 Gigondas Clos Derriere Vieille is rich, ripe and fruit-driven, offering fresh berries and cherries that pick up lovely hints of roses and tea leaves on the long, silky finish. Drink: 2019-2030’
