Dense, black in colour; a combination of raspberry, black cherries and plums, cedar, fresh earth, violets, chocolate and cedar aromas flow strongly from the glass. The palate is rich, textural with a core of silky tannins pulling together the raspberry and plum dominated palate spiced by black pepper notes. Oodles of fruit, extract and flavour. A monumental Chaumont. 20 plus year ahead of it.
Long and elegant, scented with cassis, blackberries, raspberries and dark cherries knit with tight-grained cedar and chocolate oak, it reveals notes of dried Italian herbs and a whiff of cola. It’s beautifully polished and brightly lit, with a profound, but gentle core of black and red fruits artfully wound around a fine, but firmish spine of crunchy tannins. Oak is smoky and tightly knit, while it extends with suppleness and softness towards a gentle and deftly balanced finish, leaving a lingering presence of fruit backed by smoky, earthy and licorice-like nuances. Utterly unique.
