This Domaine has long-produced a Fixin from a tiny, 0.32-hectare single parcel in Les Champs Pennebaut, a terroir located midway up the hill on the Marsannay side of the village. Recently Mortet also purchased a parcel of old vines (60-70 years old) in the southern part of Fixin, on the border of the Gevrey AOC in a vineyard called Les Champs de Charmes. From 2013, this parcel has been a part of the blend. Both sites have the classic clay/limestone soils of the Côte d’Or, though the northern soils are considerably darker.
Arnaud Mortet believes that Fixin has enormous potential. Taste this and you won’t have any trouble agreeing! Like Marsannay, it’s another appellation that can be purchased with reasonable pricing, and we believe this is the village’s finest example. Plush and seductive with all kinds of red and dark fruits and loads of spice. In the context of modern Burgundy, it is a bargain.
Outstanding. A discreet application of wood sets off the cool, pure and airy essence of red currant that is also cut with suggestions of earth and floral elements. The racy, intense and lightly mineral-driven middle weight flavors possess fine precision on the lingering and youthfully austere finale. This is excellent for its level.

Combining fruit from black clay soils in the northern part of the appellation and limestone soils in the south, this delicious old-vine Fixin always delivers in the glass. Aged in 25% new wood, it's plush, vivacious and crunchy, showing lovely black cherry and licorice notes.
