2017 Vincent Girardin Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru Les Folatières, Cote de Beaune

Medium to full golden-yellow colour, with a rich, very complex and yet discreet bouquet that suggests pencil-shavings wood, smoked smallgoods, butter, peanut brittle and this is all conjoined on the palate by an array of citrus fruit flavours together with their acidities. Wow, this is a blindingly good wine, the intensity driving like a locomotive through the mouth—long and sustained, enlivened by mesmeric acidity. The concentration and power of this wine could be over-awing, but they're not at all. A terrific wine. Drink 2021 – 2033
