Block F, planted in 1989, is a small 0.7ha block planted on the higher slopes of the valley side, and has a gentle north facing slope. The soils are black volcanic clay-loams littered with basalt and small rock fragments. This block was fermented with 100% whole bunches including 25% Carbonic Maceration, indigenous yeasts, natural malolactic fermentation following 9 months maturation in 25% new French oak.
Bright red cerise colour, aromatics are layered with savoury earthy spice, lifted potpourri and dense briary allure. The palate is highly spiced and bursts with unctuous blackberry and red currant. The charcuterie oak influence and seamless tannin highlight this wines nervy structural intensity, supported by indefinable persistence and exuberant enjoyment for decades to come.
