The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo (with 10,000 bottles released) has a mineral character and a sleek, firm approach that gives this wine its special identity. The wine is polished, almost glossy in texture with blackcurrant, plum and wild rose, and the tannins are gripping, although the Rio Sordo sports a lean to medium-rich density overall.

The Produttori del Barbaresco vinifies exclusively Nebbiolo grapes from the vineyards owned by the 50 associated farmers. In each vintage a Barbaresco wine and a Nebbiolo Langhe are produced. The first, produced since 1958, is the result of the assembly of grapes from different vineyards in the area of origin. It is the wine that has made the history of the company and that is synonymous with quality, typicality and convenience all over the world. The second, marketed for the first time in 1975, is the result of the vinification of Nebbiolo grapes from the younger vineyards. Nebbiolo Langhe is thus an excellent wine to approach this great grape variety and to understand its personality in a simpler and more immediate form. In some vintages, uniformly considered excellent throughout the area of origin, nine Barbarescos are also produced from specific vineyards and marketed after four years, as Riserva. These are all historical vineyards of great fame that the same Barbaresco Producers has contributed to making famous: Asili, Montefico, Montestefano, Muncagota, Ovello, Pajè, Pora, Rabajà, Rio Sordo. Produced since 1967, only in great vintages, and all vinified in exactly the same way, they allow the enthusiast a unique experience, almost a walk through the Barbaresco vineyards, savoring the different nuances and characteristics of each one.
