Fruit from the dry-grown Forest Hill vineyard in Mount Barker. Hand picked, matured in French oak for 12 months (25% new). Svelte, concentrated and muscular in the most wonderful of ways. Mount Barker can give that salivating, bloody character of ferrous and red dirt (like Frankland River can) and it fills me with satisfaction to taste wine laced in this way. Inchoate as this wine is, all of the hallmarks required for ageing are here in spades. Just 840 bottles made.

Ruby purple in colour. Aromas of sweet red and black berries, cracked swigs, bay leaf and black olives. Berry fruit and olive carries to the palate with fruit power, the tannins are elegant and refined. Long and lingering.
