2018 Pizzini Prosecco, King Valley

Initial aromas include yeasty and melon notes, as the wine opens up in the glass the nose smacks of citrus blossom, fresh lime, Wisteria flower and green apples. It is refreshingly fizzy with gentle, lemony acidity.

Pizzini are makers of Italian wine varieties and are based in King Valley, Victoria. The King Valley has established itself as the home of Italian grape varieties in Australia. The shallow, rocky soils on the gently undulating slopes make perfect sites for Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese and Nebbiolo. While the more fertile zones along the valley floor leading to the King River grow fragrant Brachetto and crisp Prosecco. The wines are made by Joel Pizzini, the vineyards managed by Alfred Pizzini.

Fermented in tank and bottled under pressure to preserve a frothy, insouciant goodness, this is a bubble bath of apple, pear and baking spice flavours in the mouth.1 August 2019
