Grahams Fine Tawny Port, Douro

Graham's has been one of the great names of the Douro since 1820, building its reputation on richly flavoured Ports of exceptional balance and consistency. Today the Symington family continues that tradition, drawing on outstanding vineyards throughout the Douro Valley and generations of blending expertise. Graham's Fine Tawny is an approachable introduction to the house's celebrated wood-aged style, combining mellow complexity with generous fruit and effortless drinkability.

Unlike Vintage Port, Tawny develops much of its character through maturation in seasoned oak casks. Time in wood gradually softens the youthful fruit and introduces the nutty, savoury complexity that makes the style so distinctive. Graham's careful blending retains enough freshness and fruit to balance this mature character, creating a Tawny that is wonderfully versatile.

Warm tawny ruby in colour, the bouquet offers ripe red berries, dried figs and raisins layered with toasted almonds, caramel and gentle baking spice. The palate is smooth and supple, with sweet dried fruit, roasted nuts and toffee balanced by refreshing acidity. Soft, warming and beautifully rounded, the finish lingers with walnut, spice and a touch of orange peel.

Serve slightly chilled with Portuguese custard tarts, crème brûlée, sticky date pudding, roasted almonds or a good aged cheddar. It's equally enjoyable after dinner on its own – and unlike Vintage Port, there's no need to finish the bottle in one sitting once opened.

Serving: Best lightly chilled at around 12–16°C. Once opened, reseal and enjoy over the following weeks.
