Hennessy XO is one of the world’s most iconic Cognacs, a timeless symbol of luxury, depth, and craftsmanship. Created in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy for his own family and friends, it was the first Cognac ever classified as “Extra Old,” setting the standard for the XO category that defines fine Cognac today. Every bottle embodies more than 250 years of savoir-faire from the Hennessy Maison, a legacy of blending mastery and dedication to refinement.
The blend is composed of around one hundred eaux-de-vie, aged between ten and thirty years, primarily sourced from the Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Fin Bois crus. Each component is carefully selected by Hennessy’s master blender Renaud Fillioux de Gironde, the eighth generation of the Fillioux family to hold the role. The eaux-de-vie are matured in French Limousin oak barrels, where they slowly gain structure, warmth, and aromatic complexity.
In the glass it shines deep mahogany with bronze reflections. The aroma is rich and layered, revealing candied fruit, prunes, cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa, and subtle vanilla. The palate is velvety and full bodied, showing dried fig, dark chocolate, toasted oak, and warm spice balanced by silky tannins and an exceptionally long finish. Every sip evolves, moving from vibrant fruit to deep, mellow rancio notes that linger with grace.
Hennessy XO is best savoured neat or over a single large cube of ice to release its intricate aromas. It also pairs beautifully with fine cigars, roasted nuts, or dark chocolate desserts. This is a Cognac that speaks of patience, heritage, and sophistication, the benchmark for XO around the world.
