Disgorged in July 2024 with a dosage of 2.5 grams per liter, the latest NV Extra-Brut Rosé de Meunier (2021 base) has 40% reserve wines from 2020. As usual, it’s composed of 60% Pinot Meunier vinified as Blanc de Noirs, 30% macerated grapes and 10% still red wine and jumps from the glass with aromas of redcurrants, cranberries and spices. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, vinous and layered, with a generous fruit core supported by bright acidity, concluding with a long, perfumed finish.

The Laherte Frères Rosé de Meunier is one of the most original grower Champagnes, crafted entirely from Pinot Meunier, a grape that Aurélien Laherte has championed as central to the identity of the Côteaux Sud d’Épernay. Farmed biodynamically from old-vine plots around Chavot, the wine combines fruit from three different winemaking methods: direct press, maceration, and still red Meunier blended in, creating a rosé that is both vibrant and complex. It is a Champagne that shows how Meunier can deliver both charm and depth when treated with respect.
In the glass it is a delicate pale salmon pink with fine, persistent bubbles. The bouquet is lifted and perfumed, offering wild strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant, layered with blood orange, rose petal, spice and chalky minerality. The palate is elegant and textural, with juicy red fruit flavours balanced by bright acidity and a subtle savoury, saline edge. A touch of grip and spice adds complexity, while the finish is long, dry and refreshing.
Food pairings highlight its versatility and freshness: salmon tartare, seared tuna, duck breast with cherries, charcuterie, or Mediterranean vegetable dishes such as ratatouille. It is also excellent with aged cheeses or simply as an apéritif. With 6 to 8 years of cellaring potential, it develops more savoury and nutty notes while retaining freshness and drive.
