Deep crimson. Raspberry, blackberry mocha aromas with marzipan, hint bush garrigue notes. Richly flavoured wine, the plentiful red and dark berry fruits, perfectly ripe, gravelly tannins and underlying chinotto notes. Very expressive and beautifully balanced wine.
97 points Andrew Caillard MW The Vintage Journal
80-plus-year-old shiraz from Central Eden and Flaxman valleys matured for 18 months in French oak, 60% new. Deep, resonant and gloriously pure, with elegant blackberry and dark plum fruits. Hints of brown spice, sage, cedar, dark chocolate, violets. licorice, crushed herbs and crushed stone. The fruit weight is bang on the money, the fine-grained tannins are toothsome and nicely integrated, and the finish is long and rich. The cellaring potential is very promising here.

From the higher, cooler slopes of Eden Valley, Sons of Eden continues to champion site driven Shiraz with a more refined, aromatic edge. The project, led by Corey Ryan and Simon Cowham, draws on old vine material to build depth while letting the region’s natural elegance shine. Remus comes from mature vineyards where lower yields and cooler conditions shape a wine that leans into detail and spice rather than sheer weight.
Deep crimson in the glass, the aromatics are lifted and complex. Blackberry, dark cherry and plum sit alongside cracked pepper, violet and a gentle herbal note. There is a fine thread of spice and a subtle earthiness that adds intrigue.
The palate is medium to full bodied yet beautifully composed, with dark fruit carried by fine, structured tannins. A line of acidity keeps everything fresh and focused, while layers of spice, pepper and a touch of savoury complexity build through the mid palate. It finishes long and persistent, with both fruit and spice lingering.
This is a natural partner for dishes with depth and flavour. Roast lamb, grilled meats or slow cooked beef all work beautifully, as do dishes with a touch of spice where the wine’s peppery edge can shine.
Drinking well now with some air, though it will reward patience over ten to fifteen years as it develops further savoury and spicy complexity.
There is a quiet confidence here, a Shiraz that reflects the cooler side of South Australia, offering both structure and elegance in equal measure.
