Ovello is one of Barbaresco's fresher microclimates, so it can be no surprise that the Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is quite backward early on in its life cycle. It is a stunning display of nebbiolo with expressive aromatics, generous fruit, prominent minerality and plenty of personality. Full-bodied and long on the palate, it is still somewhat reticent today, although all the ingredients are clearly in place for this to offer outstanding drinking in a few years' time. Last tasted Nov 2007. Drink now to 2021.
