The Yakka Shiraz is sourced entirely from Longview’s vineyard at Macclesfield, Adelaide Hills. The fruit was handpicked to minimize fruit damage, fermented cool, then left on skins for 10 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged in old and new (20%) French Oak Barriques for 15 months. Raspberry, blackberry, and hints of vanilla dominate the nose. The fruits carry over to the palate, with spice,, licorice, and vanillin oak in support. Tannins are perfectly balanced, and the finish is long.
