The wine-making process of Barolo Margheria takes place in horizontal fermentation tanks with temperature control for 12-15 days. The wine ages in large 25-hl wooden barrels for 24 months.
Garnet red colour. Very intense and complex nose with notes of fruit and flowers and hints of leather and fresh hay. In the mouth it is full-bodied, elegant, with pleasant tannins that are typical of Nebbiolo and of the wines made in the area of Serralunga d'Alba. Perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
Antonio Galloni’s comments:
Black cherry, lavender, sage, menthol, tobacco and licorice give the 2012 Barolo Margheria its masculine, savoury personality. As always, the Margheria possesses driving at times, searing tannin, and yet all the elements are very nicely balanced. I would give the 2012 a year or two in bottle to settle down, but there is certainly plenty to like. The Margheria is a typical Serralunga Barolo long on tension and the sinewy power that is common in this site. Drink 2017-2024. Tasted Nov 2016. Notes by Antonio Galloni
