Notes by Antonio Galloni
Pira's 2012 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga is a very pretty wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Macerated cherry, scorched earth, kirsch, tobacco and rosewater give the wine its lifted, perfumed personality. The 2012 comes across as a bit light by Pira standards, but it nevertheless packs a good punch and has plenty of structure for an entry-level offering. Best of all, the 2012 delivers good quality for the money. The 2012 is a tasty Barolo for restaurants or other settings where extended cellaring is not practical. Drink 2016-2020. Tasted Nov 2016.
