The Houghton Gladstones Cabernet Sauvignon honours renowned viticulturist and long time supporter of Houghton, Dr John Gladstones. In 1965 John published a scientific paper identifying the suitability of the Margaret River region to produce premium wine grapes.
Brilliant, dark red in appearance, this wine displays a bouquet of cassis, plums and blackberry, with hints of tomato leaf and licorice. The palate is characterised by classic Cabernet varietal characters of cassis, plum and tobacco leaf. The use of high quality French oak barriques provides complexity and complements the fruit flavour length. Fine but firm tannins and balanced acidity complete the picture.
An exceptional wine with outstanding structure, flavour and complexity that has the balance and poise to age for up to 15 years.
