Amelia Park delivers yet again. Brilliant value for money. A delightful cabernet merlot blend. Black fruits abound with a dah of red currants and rasp.berries. Delicate oak and soft tannins round this out. Drrink now or cellar for a few years.
Margaret River first won acclaim for consistently high quality of its Cabernet Sauvignon. It modelled itself on Bordeaux with virtually every winery producing a Cabernet with Merlot being a common blend component. The cabernet merlot style has evolved over the decades, The common threads are ripe grapes that provide a sweet core to all the wines, which are never leafy or herbal, and often with slightly earthy or gravelly tannins. These latter characteristics are very much a product of the local terroir, which provides complexity, authority and structure.
The Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River is predominantly sourced for Amelia Park wines. Consistent and rich fruit flavours provide subtle and elegant aromatics and fine tannins.Due to another classic and outstanding growing season in 2014, Amelia Park Cabernet Merlot displays a fragrant nose of red and black currant fruit with raspberries, violets and hints of cedar and mint. The palate displays persistent berry flavours with fine tannin supporting a long elegant palate. Cellar 5-10 years. Winner of trophy and 2 gold medals.

‘Matured in French oak for 12 months. The two varieties are locked in combat on the way (part due to oak) and you have to wait for the blackcurrant and redcurrant promised by the bouquet to resonate, mulberry adding its weight. Rating: 94 points/2029/$29.00/14.5%’
