Grosset makes only small quantities of this hand-crafted (and foot-plunged) pinot noir. It is bright and fresh with primal black cherry aromatics and some briary notes; intense mulberry and bramble flavours that are both spicy and savoury; silky smooth texture and a delicate spine before a finish of great length.
Approachable now but its balanced natural acidity will improve it in the short term and enable it to cellar well. Enjoy now or cellar up to 7 years. 200 doz produced.
35yo estate 50/50% D5V12 and D4V2 clones, the D5V12 destemmed and crushed over D4V2 whole bunches and open-fermented, a total of 8 days on skins, matured on lees for 8 months in French oak (60% new). Stunning, bright, clear crimson-purple; a savoury/spicy edge to red and purple fruits on the bouquet heralds a striking palate with the drive and fruit intensity that has some similarities to Ashton Hills. The ride along the palate through to the aftertaste grows inexorably yet harmoniously. This is a beautiful pinot.

(Adelaide Hills) Medium to deep red colour with a strong purple rim. The bouquet is sweet and ripe, black cherry and dark red cherry, while the wine is much the same in the mouth: medium to full in body with ample tannins, sweet fruit and good density. The fruit concentration and ripeness are excellent. It seems like a destemmed style. All it needs is a little more time to be a great drink.10 MAR 201 Drink 2017–2030
