The 2014 Te Wahi has an appealing and ripe nose with plum, aromatic spice and red florals dominating. The palate displays savoury architecture with deeply packed and concentrated core. Bittersweet chocolate, dark fruits, spice leather and hints of earthiness are all evident. The mouthfeel is alive with brisk acidity, enhancing the juiciness of the fruit, and fine-grained, chalky tannins linger on a persistent finish.

Deep, bright red-purple colour and a spotlessly clean, superbly ripe dark-cherry and spice bouquet. It's intensely flavoured and medium-full bodied, with better structure than the 2010 (tasted with it), but also more pinosity than that vintage. The tannins are perfectly balanced and the wine avoids the toughness seen in some Central Otago pinots. An outstanding wine, lovely now and with a bright future. A fragrant, floral pinot that is a blend of the Calvert and Northburn Station Vineyards in Central Otago. Notes of sappy and stone-flecked red-cherry fruits with spicy and smoky complexity; the palate is succulently ripe and has a handy freshness. Long-layered tannins abound with plenty of juicy plum and dark-cherry flavors.

Dense and flavoursome pinot noir with succulent dark cherry, violet, dark-fleshed plum and a strong influence of nutty oak supported by a backbone of ripe tannins that leave a drying finish. An initial velvet texture with a peppery finish. Good drinking now but will certainly develop with bottle age.10 JUL 2016

Established in 1985, Cloudy Bay was one of the first five wine makers to venture into Marlborough. At the time, it was almost an unimaginable place to set-up a vineyard. But Cloudy Bay’s founder - David Hohnen - was convinced of its potential to produce great wine and invested in the best land of the region. Since then, Marlborough has risen to become New Zealand’s leading wine region, as well as one of the finest winemaking locations in the world. The winery was named after Cloudy Bay, a body of water explorer Captain James Cook came across during his voyage to New Zealand in 1770.

Hand-picked in three districts – Bannockburn, Bendigo and Lowburn – of the Cromwell Basin and matured 14 months in French oak barriques (40% new) Te Wahi is a deeply coloured, highly concentrated wine with a real sense of drive.
