Golden in colour, with pronounced tropical fruits, mango, pineapple, pollen and acacia honey on the nose. Great depth and concentration on a classy palate of apricot, marmalade, pineapple and orange zest, spiced up by white pepper on the tip of the tongue. The passionate, tropical flavours are backed by great acidity (8.77 g/l), with dried fruit notes lingering on forever. Aged for 18 months in old oak barrels. An exceptional Aszú born in a difficult year.

Disznókő Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos 500ml is a beautifully balanced sweet wine from Hungary’s famed Tokaj region, offering the richness and complexity of botrytised fruit with a slightly lighter touch than its 6 Puttonyos sibling. Crafted by one of the most respected estates in the region, this wine showcases the harmony between sweetness and vibrant acidity that defines the best Tokaji Aszú.

The wine is made primarily from Furmint, with small portions of Hárslevelű and Zéta, grown on Disznókő’s volcanic, loess-based slopes. These soils, combined with a unique microclimate and centuries of winemaking heritage, allow for the natural development of noble rot, concentrating sugars, acids, and flavour compounds in the berries.

To produce Aszú, hand-picked shrivelled grapes affected by botrytis are gently macerated in a base wine, then slowly fermented and aged in traditional Hungarian oak casks. The “5 Puttonyos” designation refers to the level of sweetness and intensity—still deeply luscious, but with an added sense of freshness and elegance that makes it incredibly versatile.

In the glass, it opens with aromas of orange marmalade, dried apricot, acacia honey, golden sultana, and spice. The palate is velvety and concentrated with luscious stone fruit, citrus zest, and a vibrant acid backbone that keeps everything in perfect balance. The finish is long, refreshing, and mouthcoating without ever feeling heavy.

Perfect with blue cheese, fruit tarts, roasted nuts, or foie gras, or simply enjoyed as a contemplative after-dinner wine.
