Winemaker Allan Johnson aims for a ‘ripe, full and rich’ Pinot Noir. Allan says:

'Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on rim. The nose is elegant in proportion and well-concentrated with aroma of ripe dark red berry fruit entwined with black cherry, plum and spicy oak. Layers of licorice, spices, soy sauce and herbs emerge from the core with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate features rich, plush, ripe fruit flavours of dark red berries, black cherries and plums entwined with herbs, spices liquorice and pepper. The fruit succulence is enhanced by discreet acidity, and is balanced by fine-grained, supple tannin extraction. The structure has the firmness and drive to carry the flavours to a softly concentrated, long lingering finish of plums, cherries and liquorice. This is a rich, plush, dark-fruited Pinot Noir with complexing herb nuances and fine structure.

96 pts – Bob Campbell

‘Supple, fruit-driven Pinot Noir, with succulent Black Doris plum, dark cherry and spicy oak flavours. There is also a suggestion of liquorice and spice. Quite intense with a silken texture. Accessible and appealing wine. 12/12/2015’
