Pale straw with green highlights. Blackcurrant leaf, lime zest, lemongrass and elderflower dominate the nose. Palate is medium-bodied with white currants and preserved lemon, fresh herbs and a dry, savoury and weighty finish. Best enjoyed when young and fresh, but has the potential to age gracefully for many years. Served chilled with summer salads, salmon, seafood, including green-lipped mussels.
95 pts – Bob Campbell (MW)
A fine example of the Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc style with gooseberry, green capsicum, nettle, 'wet stone' mineral and a suggestion of tomato leaf. Taut acidity helps drive a lengthy finish. Very stylish wine. Gives a nod in the direction of Sancerre.
