2015 Domaine de l’Arlot Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts Saint Georges Cellar Release, Burgundy

Vinified with roughly 55% whole-bunches in 2015 and raised with 45% new oak, this is deep, sinewy and mineral-etched, oozing dark cherry, iodine-fruit and powdery tannins. A 2015 rouge of remarkable depth—Nuits in excelsis. In short, it doesn’t get much better than this.

As is usually the case this is much earthier and more sauvage with its more deeply pitched aromas of various dark berry fruit, plum, floral and discreet humus nuances that are trimmed in enough wood to remark upon. There is notably more size, weight and power present to the markedly rich big-bodied flavors that are at once seductive yet quite serious on the clearly built-to-age finish. Highly recommended.” 

“The 2015 Domaine de l’Arlot Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Fôrets Saint Georges includes around 55% whole bunch and is actually a blend of six different cuvées. What is interesting is that the whole bunch contribution is far less tangible in this compared to the Clos de l'Arlot. It is very well defined, quite sensual in style with very pure red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin: tart red cherry fruit, wild strawberry, saline in the mouth with a sappy finish that keeps drawing you back in.
