2015 Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley Volnay Vieilles Vignes another winner! Silky soft scents of violets, jubes and crushed cherry. The palate is like gliding down a big hill of satiny silky flavours. Ripe strawberry and cherry fruit is supported by tightly wound tannin. These tannins slip into the background whilst more hints of fruit emerges. There is a toasty edge that works so well with the ripe fruit flavours. This wine can more than handle some more robust food such as beef daube and mash potato.
90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
..."There are tightly-wound, stony red berry fruit intermixed with orange rind and white pepper, the mouth tingling long after the wine has departed.."
88-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound
..." there is markedly more volume to the richer and denser medium-bodied flavors that also exude a fine bead of minerality on the driving finish. This is a big and not particularly refined villages but it is powerful and balanced."
89-91 points Vinous
..." Bright, dark red-ruby. Redcurrant aroma along with a distinct fresh blood note from the iron-rich soil. At once dense and juicy, conveying a lovely inner-mouth floral quality and a light touch. .."
