From vines planted in '78, cool-fermented, one-third whole bunches included, matured for 12 months on lees in French puncheons (33% new). An immaculately crafted syrah, it is elegant, perfectly balanced, fragrant, very long, absurdly cheap and effortlessly complex. Spice and some pepper join the red and black cherry fruits of the palate, fine and ripe tannins, and quality French oak.
